Editorial: What Makes the Fib from Outer Space Forgettable?

Hi. I'm the Amateur Critic. I review just about anything.

I recently did a review on LarryBoy and the Fib from Outer Space. After posting that review, I began thinking about the movie's title villain: the Fib. Sure, he's a bad-ass villain in the movie, but what makes him so forgettable the majority of the time watching Veggietales? How does the Fib make a person say, "What is that?" or "I'm not really familiar with that character?"

If we want to answer the big question, then we must first analysis the Fib character.

1. He's said to be a space alien, because (obviously) he fell from the night sky as a meteor at the beginning of the show.
2. No one knows where he came from in space, or what kind of alien species he is (except a Fib).

3. He uses manipulation and persuasion to get his way, and for people to do his bidding.
4. He seems friendly at first, but is later so conniving and evil. Not much complexity here in character, but you get the idea.

5. When giant, Fib can destroy buildings, step on cars, and wreak havoc in Bumblyburg.
6. Telling the truth is the only way to defeat this villain.

So with those facts in mind, what makes the Fib forgettable?

Granted, the Fib made an awesome villain in the first LarryBoy episode, but I don't know. Well, the episode lasted for around thirty minutes, which was too short a time to put in full character development for all the characters. With lack of character development, I guess the Fib from Outer Space wasn't a household name, unless you mention LarryBoy in a conversation, and then people would say, "Oh yeah! I remember the first episode..."

With that said, I would like to propose something. The only way the Fib can get any redemption at all is if Big Idea did at least an hour long movie about this villain, giving us his back story and the complexity of his character, instead of a fast-paced show that would result in drive-by cinema. I believe that the Fib is so underrated at this point, that it makes the two Veggietales movies "Jonah" and "The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything" seem overrated. This comes to the other big question: When will LarryBoy get his own feature-length film? But I'm getting ahead of myself.

The point is, the Fib may seem forgettable to the rest of the world, but die-hard LarryBoy fans will definitely know who he is.

  2. "He" is forgetable. Yet when I look at him, the thoughts of the episode open from within.
