Ever since I did my review on the Youtube video Don't Hug Me I'm Scared, I decided to do a review on its sequel, which came out more than a year ago- Don't Hug Me I'm Scared 2- TIME.
Opening Scene:
So after the title card, we see our three characters from last time sitting in front of a TV, which is having a spaz-out attack with the black-and-white screen.
Hairy Red Guy: "Come on, guys. Stop monkeying around. We only have five minutes until our show's on."
-The TV is spazzing out because their TV program isn't on? Guys, there's this thing called a remote. Why not use your remote to surf other channels while waiting for your program to start?
Crow: "It's not enough time!"
-What do you mean that's not enough time? Five minutes sure beats five hours!
Now, as if waiting for a TV show to start, even for five minutes, isn't awkward enough...
Clock: "There's always time for a song."
-A talking clock? Well, I guess we can expect that, even after the last time with the talking writing pad. And to be fair, at least this clock doesn't move around or dance or...
(the clock dances to the beat of a clock)
-F***!
Clock: (singing) "Time is a tool you can put on the wall, or wear it on your wrist..."
So the clock starts singing about time...
-Oh look! A family picture!
-Look! The Yellow Guy's painting of a clown... that was painted all over with that black paint/sludge from the original video.
-Oh look! A picture that says nothing... No really!
Yellow Guy: "What's the time?"
Clock: (singing) "It's a quarter 'til nine..."
-Actually, a quarter 'til nine is 8:45, not 9:15. Well, to be fair, this video was made by Brits, so I won't dwell in that too deeply.
Clock: (singing) "Time to have a bath!"
-Um... that was random.
On with the next scene!
Clock: (singing) "Time is a ruler to measure the day. It doesn't go backwards, but only one way..."
Then, out of nowhere, the clock just takes our three characters into a space-or-time-continuum type thing...
Clock: (singing loudly) "Let's go on a journey, a journey through all time!"
-(giggling) Boy, that clock is taking this whole lesson on time very seriously!
Clock: "Don't be stupid, friends!"
-Whoa! There's no need to get cocky!
Anyway, through awkward changes from live-action to animation and back, the clock tells the threesome about different ways to view time,
from dying trees
to rotting apples to "having fun" with a house of cards.
(the clock purposefully knocks down the house of cards)
Clock: (singing) "There's a time and a place for monkeying around!"
-Man, this clock is not only rude, but also sketch! He's just as sketch as that talking writing pad from the last video!
Okay, what is this? We're now being introduced to staring creepy people?
(the creepy guy staring into the camera, while the background behind him changes color)
-Line?
Hairy Red Guy: "And then what happened after the olden days?"
-Thanks for tearing us away from that awkward moment there.
Clock: (singing) "Time went new, got old like history..."
-This all isn't too bad. However, if you saw the original video, you'll probably that weird shit is about to happen soon. It hasn't happened yet.
Yellow Guy: "An old man died..."
-Uh, thanks for pointing that out... not that it's anything important, except that it comes from this video series' long line of randomness.
Clock: (singing) "Time is now, the future anew!"
-There's mind-control in the future?
Yellow Guy: "My dad is a com-com-computer..."
-And there's Internet porn in the computer? By the way, this guy's dad is not only creepy, but also a pervert.
Clock: "Look at the time!"
And then we get a few moments of characters being near raw fish.
Hairy Red Guy: "There's fish everywhere."
-Yeah, we see.
So just when we think that things may not get any more sketch, the characters ask the questions that would definitely seal their fate. Take a listen to these questions.
Crow: "But when did it start?"
Yellow Guy: "And when will it stop?"
-Uh, guys. You don't need to know that right now. Just pretend y'all didn't ask...
Hairy Red Guy: "If we run out of time, where does it go?"
Yellow Guy: "Is time even real? Does anyone know?"
-Shut up! Y'all don't need to know!
Crow: "Maybe time is just a conscious of human perception..."
-Now another philosophical lesson...
(the clock making an alarm sound that increases in volume)
-WTF?
(Yellow Guy's ear bleeds)
-Who does this clock guy think he is? He's rude and sketch!
The clock goes on to explain that time goes on every day.
With that said, the three characters start to age rapidly... and not the way we like it.
(Hairy Red Guy's hair growing)
-Okay.
(Crow's flesh peeling off his bones)
-Wait a minute. What?!
(Yellow Guy turning into an ugly old guy)
-Okay this is getting stupid now!
Yellow Guy: "Make it stop!"
-What stop? Time or y'all's aging?
-By the way, we knew this was coming. It's the dreaded erratic atmosphere coming to scare us with its malicious shock value. We've waited 3 minutes for this, you guys.
Clock: (singing) "It's out of my hands. I'm only a clock."
-Yeah, it's "out of your hands," because you caused all this. Who would do that? And who would say that?
Clock: (singing) "Don't worry. I'm sure you'll be fine, but eventually everyone runs out of time."
-(sarcasm) How encouraging, especially for someone who is dying! Geez! This guy is so not moral!!!
And then we realize that this was all just a TV show that the three characters were watching on their television.
-(pause) Was that the program that they were waiting five minutes for? If so, then they're so messed up and not right in their heads! Then again, this ending felt like bullshit. Maybe the video decided to throw in a deus ex machina, so that we wouldn't be too disappointed to learn that time is valuable to where we'll eventually run out of it someday... Now I'm starting to sound like that damn clock!
End Credits:
We finally get to the credits where... there's larva wiggling through blue fur?
-IDK. I'm far too shocked by this video to comment.
And that was the sequel to Don't Hug Me I'm Scared.
Well, to be fair, the weird, creepy moment took longer to appear in this video than it did in the first video. Nonetheless, just like in the first video, the "teacher" figure was sketch and rude. You can definitely tell that more work was put into this video than the first, because the characters got to go somewhere (at the very least), instead of just being at home for the whole video.
For what it is, it's creepy, yet it has a stand-out message... which people are still theorizing about, and we have our speculations.
